Doughnuts or donuts are deep-fried sweet flour dough that is usually has a topping and are in various flavors. Mostly doughnuts are topped with chocolate, sugar, maple glazing, etc... There are two types of doughnuts as ring doughnut and filled doughnuts. Ring doughnut has a hole in the middle of the doughnut and has the usual topping. Filled doughnuts are injected with cream, fruit preserves, custard, etc... In Sri Lanka, we often see the ring doughnut. Doughnuts are mostly paired with the coffee but also can be paired with milk. So donuts are a sweet snack great for tea time. Here is an easy recipe to make some sweet donuts at your own kitchen. Try it today...

Ingredients

 200 g All purpose flour
 20 g Butter (Salted)
 5 g Yeast
 ½ tsp Salt
 20 g Sugar
 100 ml Lukewarm milk
 1 qt Egg
 Vanilla extract
 Coconut oil

Directions

To a large bowl, add lukewarm milk, sugar, and yeast mix it.

Then add salt, vanilla extract, butter, all-purpose flour, and the egg.

Mix the ingredients using a beater fitted with a dough hook, a mixing machine or by your hand for around 5 minutes until it becomes a sticky dough.

Now spread some flour on the working top and knead the dough.

Glaze the bowl with butter or oil and put the kneaded dough into the glazed bowl.

Glaze the top of the dough with butter or oil to prevent the dough from drying.

Now close the bowl and leave it aside until the dough doubles.

Spread some flour again on the working top and roll it until the thickness is around 1/2 inch.

Cut the dough using a doughnut cutter or a drinking glass. To make the hole use a small shot glass or a plastic pipe.

Leave it aside for around 15 minutes wrapped from a plastic wrapper.

Heat some oil in a flat pan and fry the doughnuts turning sides until it becomes light brown in color.

Spread some ground sugar on the fried doughnuts.

Melt some grated chocolate using hot milk.

Now topped one side of doughnuts with melted chocolate.

To finalize the doughnuts spread some sprinkles on top of the chocolate layer.
